plates on the wall

Saturday, 18 January 2014

Plates! One would never associate them with anything else other than food and eating out of- however, these guys have been popular from time to time on walls as wall decor. Here are few of the walls in my home and my personal collection.

Love Letters (no, like a, B, c...not mail) ! Always such a nice way to personalize a house.

.....and these ones- straight out of a thrift store. I must have got them for under 100Rs each (Hush! I have the neighbours thinking its vintage and worth $$$$)

as for all you lovelies wondering how to hang a plate, date back to my previous post  how to hang a plate? Simple eh?! Also, remember this?

Table REVAMP

Sunday, 14 April 2013

An office on a budget lets you come up with the most incredible outlets for creativity- or so I claim. We found an old table at the market which was once used as a salon table. Converted now into a reception desk. The office is still "work in progress", however the table is ready. I couldn't wait till the office was complete to share the details.

The table was in a decent shape. We added a steel pipe and a glass top to get more surface area. The 4" pipes were used to support the glass - to rest on the table. The other end/leg was drilled to the floor. You can add another flat steel plate if you prefer moving it around.

table at the old buy and sell store: INR 2500
12 mm glass top: INR 1000
duco paint and labour: INR 2000
total cost:INR 5500

Saturday Night Pizza

Here's an easy delicious recipe for a lazy weekend!

You Need: vegetables* you want (i prefer yellow, red and green peppers and mushrooms) + pizza sauce+ goat cheese- as much as you like, wheat pizza base+basil leaves

What you do:

Bake the base in the oven at 180C for 3-4 mins and pull it out
Spread the sauce and add all the veggies on the toasted base
Top it with goat cheese and basil leaves
Bake the pizza with toppings for 15 mins and VOILA!

Pizza sauce, you need: tomato puree- made out of 2 tomatoes +2 garlic cloves +a handful of basil leaves +salt and some fresh rosemary+ 1 cup of water

Cook the above ingredients for 8-10 mins and until the sauce thickens, this concoction can be cooled and stored in the refrigerator for about a week. You cab use this sauce for pastas as well.

(*add chicken/minced lamb instead of veggies if you like meat more, remember to saute these in a little bit of olive oil with some salt)
