Anisha of Theme My Party and I decided to put together a special for this holiday season. Table decor for the holiday season. Well, its not just for the holiday season. I am sure you can use some of this as an inspiration for all of next year; until we "tip" you more. Here's what we did - Anisha styled the table with some of the accessories from Room Therapy and with her personal collection of  X'mas decor and not to forget; her eye for detail.

And we gave it a little twist, we chose blue instead of the usual, just to spice it up a bit. Approve?

The detailing in Indian festivals is immaculate. I for one love living in India because of the festivities. I am a tad but late- but here's our version. So, here goes the tradition. 

Different parts of India celebrates in different ways. The way I have been taught is to bring home Ganesha's mom Gauri the previous day. She is dressed in a new sari and adorned with jewelery. The following day,she(gauri)cooks an elaborate meal for her son and together we invite Ganesha the elephant god home. The festival is often celebrated for 9 days. Food is an integral part. He is also offered flowers, fruits amongst his other favorite things. On the 9th day he is sent away by immersing him in water.

What we used: 2 brass antique water jugs, purple and yellow flowers, distressed wood base, cutting tools, water

......and that's how we make a gorgeous foyer piece with the simplest accessories that most of us have at home.

I was away for a week to a far far land from home. Well, not thaaat far - I went to Amsterdam for the first time and I have to say, WHAT a great city. No! I am not talking about the infamous Red Light area or the famous coffee shops. I am infact amazed with the art, architecture, food, antique markets, culture...more art,design,flea markets.....and I can go on. There are a couple of things I want to share with all of you, however this is what is on top of my mind as fight through jet lag. The streets look gorgeous, not because there is some magical potion- just some easy, simple planters. I wanted to share these with you guys, because I think you and me can totally use these ideas for a better outdoor space. Planter Therapy it is!

I absolutely love these two, don't be surprised if I add these milk can planters to my garden

 

This is an interesting one, the ducts have been converted into planters and I don't know if the picture does justice, but it does look pretty good in person

Thanks to a crazy shower a few days ago, unfortunately we had a tree fall off in our garden.  A cousin of mine had used a log of wood and made a candle-stand out of it. He had carved out a bunch of holes in the log and let it dry for a few days. I decided to use my log of wood the same way to create some "log therapy". I must say it did turn out very well. Use it by itself or add an arrangement with it!

My mother-in-law has the luckiest green thumb ever. She touches a plant and it blossoms into a good looking tree. It's almost a "see it to believe it" situation. These pictures are from her garden. No doubt, it has taken over ten years to create this magic, but notice how little elements add flavor. The stone statues are tucked into strategic locations. There is an eclectic mix of bamboo, shrubs, lotus ponds in large pots and good amount of carpet lawn. My favorite part are the little girl statues holding pots; which can be used to float candles and flower petal on special occasions or just plain garden decor on regular days.
