Dempsey Hill in Singapore used to be the Central Manpower Base for the British, and now its the home of antique stores and great restaurants. The ambiance is some what old fashioned- no traffic, pedestrians filled in the pathways that are lush green, great store fronts inserted into old British style premises. Among the many restaurants I happened to have breakfast at Jones, the grocer. Apart from the freshly made scones that I gobbled- I had the opportunity to admire the old building with high roofs and old trusses that was effortlessly converted into the restaurant cum grocery store.
