Instagram Walls

Sunday, 31 March 2013

I started to use Instagram a while before my wedding. I think I was obsessed with getting good photos at the time. My sister-in-law introduced me to this new app on the phone. Initially it was fun and great time killer- now I have realized that you can do so much with it, its kind of crazy. I stopped at this cafe/ coffee shop recently. First off, great appeal on the sign board- it was a chalkboard (you know I'm obsessed with it!) Second, its called SHOTS, Third, they have yummy coffee. Fourth, the main point of this post- they have a whole wall filled with Instagram pictures in different genres. So, basically they have random people(read regulars) who submit their Instagram photos to them, and they print it, frame it and put it on their wall. Easy, Simple, Economic- Instatherapy!

Club Street

Friday, 29 March 2013

While we are in the mood for colour; might as well get this post out of the way. These pictures are from my trip last month. Club Street, Singapore is one of the most good looking streets despite the colouroma that is on. Simple details, lots of colour, old juxtaposed with new. Loving colour therapy!

Holi

Thursday, 28 March 2013

HOLI, (as cliche as cliche can get) is the festival of colours. Whats not to love about this festival?! Colours-organic,food- jalebi, jamoon, chaat, thandai, music, dance. Its one of my favorite festivals. So much joy, so much excitement, so much colour...Hard to not be inspired. Read more about HOLI.

It was a small gathering with close friends who'se efforts came together to make a super fun HOLI. Pictures: Suman Chakri

here's how easy the decor is to make:
you need: twine, letters printed and cut in the desired shape, stapler- if your lazy/glue- if you are a perfectionist

as for the streamers, bunch them up (8-10 streamers) and staple them on the branches of the tree

Thankyou HyderabadGoesGreen for the organic colours

Continuing Chalkboard Love!

Monday, 25 March 2013

I took on this weekend project and it was super fun. You remember my last post and the one before that-of course you do.  All those amazing chalk-boarding and the tyre! Well, this project is divided into two, sequel of the above two.

Project 1
After one of our regular reader's (Nishitha) mentioned I should paint the tyre before using it- I worked upon it and found a solution, thanks to my husband. Very simple, as usual.

You need: Tyre polish -easily available in any auto-store. Costs about INR 220, a brush, some water to clean up. Wash the tyre, apply the polish with a brush and Voila! Brand new (looking) tyre.

Project 2
To make your own chalkboard, you need: plywood board or any other unpolished wood surface, sand paper, chalkboard paint, brush, thinner

1.Sand paper the plywood to make it smooth
2.Get rid of all the dust on the board
3.Apply the paint and let it dry- dries super fast
4.Paint another coat after about 4 hours, more coats of paint = more smoother finish.

And now you have a brand new tyre-chalkboard coffee table. Its a fun element to have in the kids room or for adults. Use it to serve cheese, play games or even leave notes for each other

Chalkboard Love!

Friday, 22 March 2013

I don't know how schools work in this day and age with computers and pull down screens. In my  school days we learned everything- i really mean everything from biology to math, from what was written on a big black chalk board. After school hours we would stay back and draw on them; holiday season meant colored chalks and themes, punishment was "your cleaning the board for a week"! Now, I look back and I think- what was so bad about it. Chalkboards are so so fun. Look at some of these chalk board therapies and tell me you don't agree. At the end of this- you will want to learn how to make your own and I will tell you how in my next post- coming soon. Happy Friday my lovelies!

Reuse a Tyre!

Tuesday, 19 March 2013

Ever looked in your garage and wondered what to do with all the extra stuff? That's happened to me. I have had this situation many times considering my husband is a car junkie. Here's what I did with an old tyre which had run its course. I had actually made a similar one in college, when we were on a budget and needed side tables. I plan to use my new coffee table for out door entertainment. It actually looks great even in a lounging space or carefree living area.  Use, Reuse and Decorate is the motto here.

Like my model? Doesn't he add to the rugged look? Don't forget to leave your comments!

Summer Salad

Sunday, 17 March 2013

Usually, I like to break on Sunday from decor and cook. I don't know about you guys, but my part of the world is boiling - summer is here and I need some comfort food. I saw watermelon in my fridge and  remembered this awesome salad I ate at a restaurant in New york; again. Watermelon-Basil salad with Goat cheese- an amazing, easy, gourmet looking and tasting salad. Trust me the salt and the goat cheese just make the melons taste like heaven, not to forget the flavor basil gives. Enough said now, here's how you make it

 1 cup scooped/cubed watermelon
4 tbsp chopped basil
1/3 cup goat cheese
1tsp Olive Oil
1/4 tsp Pepper
Salt to taste

Mix all of the above and serve cold.

Easy enough for Sunday Salad Therapy?

It black or white or BOTH!

Thursday, 14 March 2013

Apparently, today is white day. White Day was started in Japan in 1978 -it was started as an "answer day" to Valentine's Day on the basis that men should give to the women who gave them chocolate and other gifts on Valentine's Day. Interesting eh? I decided to put a post dedicated to White Day, except I added some Black to it as well. Black&White Therapy my friends!

50 shades of RED!

Wednesday, 13 March 2013

If one says 'red' - the name of color - and there are fifty people listening, it can be expected that there will be fifty reds in their minds. And one can be sure that all these reds will be very different-Josef Alber

That is precisely what I faced this last work trip, see for yourself!
